The Deadly Side of the Rapture (Luke 17:24-37)

One mysterioius phrase from the gospels of Jesus is "one will be taken and the other left."  This has been thought of either as the rapture, or as some kind of being taken away in judgement at the end of the 1,000 rule of Jesus.

However, if you look at the Greek, which any internet savy person can do now because of Blue Letter Bible and other on line tools, you will see that the word women or men is not actually in the Greek!  Luke 17:34  in most translations has two men in a bed, one taken and the other left!  But you see this isn't about gays.  For example, as in my King James Bible I just looked at the word men is italisized, meaning it doesn't appear in the original Greek.

No, the answer I think is in the original language.  The word men does not appear.  It just says two will be in a bed.  The word can mean other things too, the greek word.  It could mean a table or an incline.

Next, or text in Luke 17:31-36 talks about two women grinding in a mill in most translations.

OK, stopping with the craziness, think about it.  The previous verses show a pattern of a Noah (Luke 17:25-26) like end time event than a Lot (Luke 17:26-27) like one with fire from heaven.

So, first tsunamis, an earth quake? That is one possibility.  Then a mountain of fire hits earth, some kind of massive burst of radiation perhaps from a close explosion of a star, stars or a galaxie.  It is probably already on its way racein toward us through space.  God already knows when it will hit to fulfill this in my interpretation of all this.

So what of the two in a table or incline or bed? What of the two grinding?

The ocean is like a bed.  One taken could mean the ocean taken off the sea floor leaveing it as the one left.

Earth quakes are caused by two grinding.  That could be the top of Lepalam Island blowing off, the top stratta of rock that is.  So here we have another tie in to the text and another mysterious saying of Jesus.  He who is on the roof top don't go down to get anything.  He didn't say roof tops pluaral.  What is the roof top of the world?  It would be a place with most of the world's observatories. Lepalma Island could fit this description.  If Lepalma Island blows 500 million tons of rocks into the west side if it NYC gets a massive tsunami coming at it at 700 mph.

Unbelievers make fun of the rapture.  But what exacly is it that makes millions disapear with bright shining going from east to west? (Luke 17:24).

Are you ready to gather with the eagles (Luke 17:31) in Alaska and graduate from your old life here (Luke 17:34) to go to your new 1,000 or so year life in a new world where nothing will be impossible?

What Does the Bible Say About Change?

In seminary we had an assignment to write a paper about change.  What the professor had in mind was how you change a church set in it's ways.  One suggestion that came up was that you let the problem get so bad that the people scream for change.  That seems kind of wierd to me.  But you see all these leadership journals really don't have much about the Bible in them.  It is all psychology and CEO stuff.

So last night I opened my Bible and concordance and saw some interesting things about words for change in Hebrew.  One word has the idea of the change being like a marriage or a barter exchange (Psalm 16:4).  In it, changeing for another god was discouraged.  You see, people were created for worship, so it is only natural for nonworshipers to have their adoration to a mortal man mutate without them being aware of the dynamics of the situation.

The second word is one that can mean a fold in a garment or a year.  It depends on the vowels.  So, God is like somebody to get married to and be fully devoted to.  But also putting on a Biblical world view is like a suit of clothes.  Cause this verse with the word shana, Proverbs 24:21 says don't associate with those given to change.    For example, if they had a day of prayer and fasting for God to bless our economy and Obama dismissed it as too right wing that would be an example of how is world view is actually secular.  God is our blesser.  Barak means blessing, not blesser, he ain't supposed to be no robin hood.  Roshashana is a Hebrew word you might know already, Rosh meaning head and Shana meaning year.  A year is a change.

Third, the word is not as colorfull and just means exchange.  Psalm 15 is about how to treat your neigbor.  To not gossip or lie.  It talks about lending and also how you should not change just because you are hurting financially.  It probably means don't change dieties or belief systems.  It doesn't mean don't change anything at all.

Fourth, in Romans 1 it talks about a bad exchange of God for idols, of normal relations for that which is perverted.  So, it shouldn't surprize you that those who would do what used to be called a crime against nature would also violate the free markets that have worked from time immemorial.
